Fall Prevention Tips for Seniors

Falls are a leading cause of injury for seniors, but with proactive measures, many falls can be prevented. By creating a safe environment and promoting physical health, seniors can maintain independence and reduce their risk of injury.

1. Stay Physically Active
Engaging in regular exercise strengthens muscles, improves balance, and enhances flexibility—all essential for stability. Activities like walking, tai chi, and gentle strength training help seniors stay active and agile.

2. Make the Home Safer
Reduce tripping hazards by securing rugs, decluttering pathways, and ensuring adequate lighting in each room. Installing grab bars in bathrooms and handrails on stairs also provides extra support where it’s needed most.
